Kids Program Detail: 🧒 Groms Youth Brazilian Jiu‑Jitsu (Ages 5–7) – The MATS Academy Program Focus The Groms program is a kids‑level Brazilian Jiu‑Jitsu class designed specifically for young children (ages 5 to 7) who are energetic, curious, and ready to engage in movement and play while gaining foundational jiu‑jitsu skills. What Your Child Will Learn Participants in this program will develop: Balance and coordination through fun movement and drills Basic athletic skills important for future sports and activity Ability to follow directions and work with a group Confidence, focus, and resilience in a supportive environment Respect and responsibility through structured play and partner work Approach Instead of “taming kids,” the program teaches them how to focus, grow, and thrive both on and off the mats — using play and positive reinforcement to cultivate discipline and skill. Many children start with no prior experience; instructors meet each child at their level and build up from fundamentals. Class Logistics Ages: 5–7 years old When: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:30 pm – 6:25 pm What to Wear: Athletic clothing (no pockets, zippers, or clasps) Bring: Water bottle to stay hydrated
Woman Only Program Url: https://themats.academy/womans-bjj-program/
Woman Only Program Detail: 🥋 Women’s BJJ Program – The Mats Academy Overview This program is designed to empower women of all experience levels through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. Whether you’re a total beginner, an experienced athlete, a parent returning to training, or a competitor, the focus is on strength, skill, safety, and community. Why BJJ for Women Teaches leverage and strategy instead of relying on strength. Helps you build physical strength, confidence, and clarity relevant both on and off the mat. Enables you to control space, stay calm under pressure, and defend yourself effectively. Program Experience You’ll train within the full adult BJJ classes, but with attention to safety, comfort, and learning style for women. Expect the following: ✔ Coaches who respect your body and learning pace ✔ Respectful and clean training partners ✔ Both Gi and No‑Gi instruction ✔ Techniques scaled for different experience levels ✔ Supportive environment that encourages growth without pressure Beginners: Learn movement basics, self‑defense principles, and how to feel in control. Experienced practitioners: More advanced training with crisp technique and high‑quality coaching. Class Structure Women participate in all regular BJJ classes, not separate ladies‑only sessions — yet the program highlights respect, comfort, and inclusivity throughout. Gi vs No‑Gi Training Gi BJJ: Uses traditional uniform; emphasizes grips and control using the clothing. No‑Gi BJJ: Worn with rash guards and shorts; focuses more on body positioning and movement. Training in both develops a well‑rounded grappling skill set. Who Can Join No experience needed — coaches adjust training to your level. Typical participants include women training for fitness, self‑defense, competition, or personal development. Additional Offerings In addition to BJJ, the academy offers women‑focused yoga experiences (e.g., prenatal, postnatal, mobility and breathwork classes) that complement training on the mats.
